    What’s New in the Media Output Switcher?

    The media output switcher is a feature that shows up when you tap the audio output icon in the media player area. It lets users change where the sound plays, such as switching between Bluetooth headsets, built-in phone speakers, or smart home devices.

    Relocated “Connect a Device” Button

    Previously positioned at the bottom, this button now sits just below the media information at the top, making it more accessible.​

    Updated Volume Slider

    The volume control has been revamped, transitioning from a thick, pill-shaped slider to a slimmer, continuous line. The device name now appears above the slider handle, in line with Google’s Material Design 3 principles.

    Removal of Device Enclosure Pills

    Google has removed the large pill-shaped backgrounds around each device under “Speakers & Displays,” creating a cleaner and more streamlined interface.

    These changes aim to modernize the interface and improve user experience by making controls more intuitive and visually aligned with the latest design standards.​
